Ready to take your kayak out for a spin? Yes, literally.

This kayak has a pedal drive for a whole new waterlife experience.

Family outings. Raft-ups with friends. Cardio workouts. Photo safaris. When your hands are freed from paddling, there's lots more to do on the water. Ocean Kayak's 12' Malibu Pedal Drive Recreational Kayak makes each adventure as easy as riding a bike. You'll have precise boat control while your hands are free to take those awesome wildlife photos, stunning sunsets across the water and the always popular selfies. With forward, reverse and agile maneuverability, you'll get to the best spots fast and stay there without paddling. Leave the paddling to your feet and enjoy a great cardio workout as you head out against the current. There's a jumpseat in the stern that's perfect to bring along a small child and a spot in the bow for your four-legged family member to join you as well. Everything you need to experience fun days on the water is included except life jackets and sunscreen (sold separately).

Pedal Drive

The included PDL Pedal Drive System, with an impressive 10.3 to 1 gear ratio, will allow you to move efficiently at speeds up to five and a half miles per hour. This pedal drive mounts in the Malibu Pedal Drive Kayak in seconds and when you encounter extremely shallow water it can tip up to its docking position in an instant. The pedals are padded so they're comfortable even when you're barefoot. You'll get maximum torque in both forward and reverse with its power prop. And the pedal console also doubles as splash-resistant storage for personal items with its 6" access hatch.

Hull Design

The Malibu Pedal Drive Kayak's single-layer polyethylene hull is strong and durable to withstand years of rugged use. Four built-in carry handles are provided to make portaging easier and offer convenient places for tying up to docks or other kayaks and anchor points. At 12' long and 34 1/2" wide, this kayak will safely float you, a small child, a dog and your gear up to an impressive combined 450 pounds.

Cockpit Furnishings

The large cockpit features the adjustable Element Beach Seat that's designed specifically for beach bums. Its slide-lock seat adjustment system and backrest adjustment straps easily adjust to accommodate your particular leg length up to 48" for the ideal pedal stroke. Constructed with open-mesh textalene fabric, you'll stay cool even on the hottest days on the water. There's even a mesh storage pocket underneath for keeping a few items handy. When the rudder is deployed, the rudder control knob is close at hand for easy steering. Two 8" accessory tracks let you add extras like camera mounts or a GPS without having to drill holes in the hull.

Storage

What about storage space? Up front there's a dog-friendly bow tankwell with removable bungee tiedowns. Under the seat there's a click seal hatch for your gear bags, a jacket and lots more. One simple click locks the cover down and keeps gear secure and dry. At the stern there's also a large tankwell with removable bungee tiedowns and a molded-in jumpseat that lets you bring a small child along for the ride. Three cup holders ensure you and your passengers are able to stay hydrated.
