This balanced combo offers corrosion resistance, sensitivity and strength.
Offering sensitivity and strength, this balanced combo features a 7' medium-heavy action carbon fiber rod (rated for 10-20 pound test line) paired with a "Size 55" Custom Inshore Black Spinning Reel. Lightweight carbon fiber construction makes the rod sensitive enough to telegraph even the subtlest of taps during a retrieve, but what sets it apart (from all-spiral-wound rods) is Ultimate Flex Reinforcement (UFR) technology, which consists of 4-5 layers of long strand fibers in the tip, which when the rod is loaded distribute the force over a greater range of fiber for increased strength and less chance of breakage. Rod features include comfortable EVA foam grips and corrosion resistant stainless steel guides with aluminum oxide inserts to minimize line friction for longer casts.
About the Reel
The "Size 55" reel can be adjusted for up to 18 pounds of drag, which together with the medium-heavy action rod works great for inshore species such as larger redfish, small tarpon, snook or on the West Coast, stripers, bonito, or rock fish. Noteworthy is the reels ported design, which creates "cyclonic" airflow, that causes the reel to quickly shed water and dry fast—which minimizes the chance of corrosion. The 4.5:1 gear ratio for for power and fast retrieves. Outstanding features also include all-graphite construction, which reduces weight and makes this reel very corrosion resistant.
