Catching fish is now as easy as riding a bike with this ICAST 2016 Best of Show—Boats award-winning kayak.

Quietly positioning yourself to present your bait or lure in cover is the key to catching big fish. With the Predator Pedal Drive Sit-On-Top Angler Kayak, the fish won't stand a chance. You'll have precise boat control while your hands are free to tie on a lure, cast, retrieve and land your catch. What makes us so sure this will become your ultimate fishing companion? The pedal drive. With forward, reverse and agile maneuverability, you'll get to the best spots fast and stay there without paddling. And if that wasn't enough, you'll find all the mounting options the most gear-hungry angler would ever want. You'll be able to move quietly through shallow water following the shoreline and casting around structure like a tournament pro in no time. This is a substantial kayak for serious fishing. Weighing in at 117 pounds with the pedal drive on board, you'll probably want help getting it back and forth from the water. If your focus is on fishing, we think leaving the paddling to your feet makes perfect sense. Read on for all the low-down on what's in store for you if you're lucky enough to call one your own.

Pedal Drive

How does five and a half miles per hour sound? That's a trick question. It's silent. As in the fish won't hear you coming until it's too late. With a 10.3 to 1 gear ratio, you'll be able to move quietly and efficiently through shallow water following the shoreline and casting around structure. The 21-pound pedal drive is easy to carry and mounts in the Predator Kayak in seconds. And when you encounter extremely shallow water it can tip up to its docking position in an instant. The pedals are padded so they're comfortable even when you're barefoot. You'll get maximum torque in both forward and reverse with its weedless power prop. And the pedal console even doubles as dry storage for personal items like your cell phone with its 6" access hatch.

  • Handy carry handle makes it easy to tote the pedal drive
  • Padded pedals for barefoot comfort and sure grip
  • Intuitive power assist pivot and docking mechanism for easy deployment
  • Console doubles as a dry storage compartment with 6" access hatch
  • Weedless power prop delivers maximum torque in forward and reverse
  • Weighs 21 pounds

Hull Design

You'll find the roto-molded, single-layer LT900 polyethylene tri-hull is wide enough for extra stability when you're casting, reeling in and landing your trophy catch, but still tracks well to get you in position quickly. LT900 polyethylene is strong and durable to withstand years of rugged use. Even the deck features a proprietary textured design called Exo-Ridge that helps ensure you and your gear stay on top of the kayak in addition to helping channel onboard water to the scupper holes. And speaking of scupper holes, the Predator Pedal Drive Kayak's hull has 8 scupper holes with patented one-way Scupper Valves to drain away any water that makes its way into your kayak so you and your gear won't sit in a puddle of water all day. Four built-in carry handles are provided to make portaging easier and offer convenient places for tying up to docks or other kayaks and anchor points. At just over 13 feet long and 3 feet wide, the Predator Pedal Drive Kayak will safely float you and your gear up to an impressive combined 500 pounds.

Cockpit Furnishings

The large cockpit features the adjustable Element Seat with a slide-lock system that easily adjusts to accommodate your particular leg length up to 48" for the ideal pedal stroke. And keep your back-up paddle (sold separately) out of the way, but handy with the molded-in paddle rest.

Element Seating System

Form meets function and comfort in this remarkably versatile seat designed specifically for anglers. The TRAVEL position provides a lower center of gravity when you need more stability. The ATTACK position provides raised seating for additional leverage when fishing. The Element seating system can also be quickly flipped out of the way into the STAND-UP position for poling, sighting and casting. A tackle tray storage shelf is tucked underneath.

  • 15" seat height
  • 21" seat width

Rudder System

The aluminum alloy used in the rudder can take lots of abuse, bending and rebending before it breaks. With some care, this aluminum rudder should last a lifetime. When the rudder is deployed, the rudder control knob is close at hand for easy steering.

What about storage space? Up front there's a large bow hatch for your gear bags, a jacket and lots more. One simple click locks the cover down and keeps gear secure and dry. Convenient recessed storage on both sides of the cockpit gives you quick access to your most-used tackle. A shelf is tucked underneath the seat for convenient storage of your tackle trays. There's also a large capacity Exo-Ridge tank well with a bungee tiedown in the stern to hold bigger gear you need access to quickly. This is the perfect place for your cooler, tackle box or bait bucket.

Fishing-Specific Features

What is a fishing kayak without LOTS of places to mount all the fishing gear you could possibly want? The Predator Pedal Drive Kayak is no exception! With no less than six, strategically placed, high-strength removable mounting plates, you'll be hard pressed to find a rod holder, fishfinder, slide track, camera mount or GPS unit you can't easily install. Add accessories from brands like Scotty, Cannon and RAM Mounts—all without the need to drill into your hull. There's even a molded-in scupper hole for your fishfinder transducer. You'll also find two flush-mount rod holders behind the seat so your gear is out of the way yet easy to grab and cast in a hurry.

Optional Floor Console

Purchasing the optional floor console (sold separately) gives you the choice to remove the pedal drive in your Predator and plug the hole so you have a flat floor for those times when you want to paddle only or spend more time standing. This flush-mount deck features the Exo-Ridge proprietary textured design which provides a confident nonslip grip for standing casts. Since it replaces the pedal drive, you'll need to use a paddle (sold separately) for propulsion.
