Men's RØ® Sun Shirt

Wear this shirt if you want to stay outside in the sun all day (particularly in, on or around the water) without looking like a boiled crustacean.

The Design

By utilizing a loose-fitting cut, this shirt promotes cooling airflow over your skin. The self-fabric crewneck rests lightly on your skin, and in combination with the set-in sleeves, ensures chafe-free, next-to-skin comfort that travels well. You'll also find thumb loops that, when worn during activities like stand-up paddleboard and kayak paddling, keep the sleeves from riding up.

The Fabric

The RØ Sun Shirt is made from a lightweight blend of partially recycled polyester and spandex jersey that helps reduce our need for petroleum to make raw materials and cuts landfill and incinerator waste.

50+ UPF

This shirt features a sun protection rating of 50+ UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor), which means only 1/50th of the sun's UV rays that fall on the surface will pass through and reach your skin. The sun protection is built-in so, unlike messy sunscreen, it won't wear off or need to be reapplied throughout the day. 

Polygiene® Odor Control

Polygiene permanently protects your garments from smelling like those running shoes you left closed up in your gym bag for a week. Although sweat itself is odorless, it creates the conditions that bacteria need to multiply, and some of those bacteria produce odors. Polygiene permanent odor control stops the growth of the odor-causing bacteria on the fabric, so you can wear your shirt more and wash it less. Polygiene-treated products can be washed at lower temperatures and washed less often, because they can be worn several times between launderings. This is significant because energy and water used to wash and dry garments at home is a major contributor to water use, energy use, and greenhouse gas emissions over the lifetime of a garment. The useful lifetime of your shirt is diminished with bacteria and repeated laundering. The Polygiene treatment adds life to your shirt so you don't need to buy a new one as often.

What makes a factory Fair Trade Certified? Rigorous standards for health and safety, respect for the environment, no child or forced labor, maternity and paid leave, community empowerment and additional money back to workers. Patagonia pays a premium for every Fair Trade Certified item that carries their label. That extra money goes directly back to the factory workers, and they decide how to spend it. They can allocate it as a cash bonus, use it for a collective social investment or both.
