These pants are the perfect companion to Patagonia's Torrentshell Rain Jacket or Pullover.

Sure a rain jacket will keep you mostly dry, but do you really want to hike, paddle or walk to work in soggy, heavy pants? That's what we figured. A little rain should never get in the way of enjoying a day of exploring. Patagonia's Torrentshell Rain Pants make use of a 2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabric for a waterproof, windproof, breathable and highly packable shelter from the storm. Just be sure you've got them stowed where you can get to them quickly. And if using environmentally responsible products is important to you, you'll be glad to know your pants are not only made with 100% recycled nylon ripstop, the fabric is also certified as bluesign® approved (more on that below). Wonderfully Waterproof

The Torrentshell Rain Pants feature a lightweight, water-repellent, 2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard fabric shell of 2.9oz., 50-denier, 100% recycled nylon ripstop. This shell fabric is combined with a waterproof, yet breathable membrane, a protective top coat barrier and a durable water repellent (DWR) finish. This design allows the pants to be constructed without the need for an internal lining fabric. The DWR finish not only repels light rain and snow and decreases drying time, it also keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so the breathable barrier can do its job—keeping you dry on the inside and out.

Fabric that is certified as bluesign approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in its manufacture that conserves resources and minimizes impacts on people and the environment.

Perfect Packing

Because its 2.5-layer H2No Performance Standard shell fabric is so lightweight and compressible, the Torrentshell Rain Pants make a good choice for kayaking, backpacking or anytime you're out in unpredictable weather. These protective pants stuff compactly into a pocket that features a carabiner clip-in loop that lets you keep it clipped to the outside of your backpack or gear bag for quick deployment.

Essential Extras

These pull-on pants feature an elasticized waistband with an internal hidden drawcord that lets you adjust the fit to keep out wind and rain.

There are two handwarmer pockets with mesh pocket bags to drain any water that gets in, plus welted exterior storm flaps and DWR-treated zippers.

The knees are articulated (jointed) to give you greater freedom of movement so kneeling down to attach crampons to your boots isn't such a chore.

There are two-way side zippers that extend from the cuffs to your thighs so you don't have to remove your boots to pull your pants on or take them off. They also double for ventilation as needed.

Note: All products bearing Patagonia's H2No mark have been vigorously tested for durability in their 24 Killer Wash, a process used to simulate years of use and abuse in a short period of time. This process consists of exposing the fabric to severe thrashing in a modified washing machine for a continuous 24 hours.
