Built on the same compact, rigid and versatile platform as the popular SLX bait-casting reel, with the addition of Shimano’s unique I-DC4 Digital Control Braking technology, SLX DC puts no compromise casting performance within every angler’s reach.
Shimano’s new Digital Control braking system utilizes a microcomputer to monitor spool speed 1,000 times every second and apply the perfect amount of brake to prevent backlash and maximize distance. Anglers of all skill levels will appreciate less thumbing and trouble-free casting in all conditions. With three gear ratios and a long powerful handle, SLX DC is ready for maximum tournament performance.
I-DC4 braking system has 4 settings which can be adjusted externally without having to open up the side plate! So now you can now cast any lure under any conditions easily with less thumbing and without having to make multiple adjustments to the reel. And because you experience less backlash, you can now make use of your valuable time to catch more fish!
The Hagane Body is made of highly rigid metals such as aluminum and magnesium. With its weight reduced to the limit, the Hagane Body eliminates flex, warp, and distortion of the reel, allowing smooth reeling with little power loss. Furthermore, the body protects the engagement of the Hagane Gear and the Micro Module Gear System from shock, while maintaining smooth operation.
Shimano’s S3D Stable Spool design delivers improved spool balance as well for reduced vibration and improved casting.
The Super Free bearing-supported pinion gear system (SF) was designed to eliminate friction on the spool shaft during the cast. In standard baitcasting reels, when the clutch bar is pressed down, the pinion gear is freed and can actually drag on the spool shaft, creating friction and limiting the length of the cast. With SF, the pinion gear is supported by a ball bearing, and when the clutch is disengaged the pinion gear and spool shaft are kept in precise alignment. The result is zero friction on the spool shaft for increased freespool.
