Product Overview
SHIMANO SLX XT Spinning Reel
Step up to the next level of attainable high-performance bait-casting. The 150 size SLX XT boasts a compact, strong Hagane Body, durable brass gears, and Shimano’s reliable SVS Infinity Brake System. With SVS Infinity, a wide range of brake adjustments is possible utilizing only the outer dial, allowing perfect casts of a wide variety of lures.
The Hagane Body is made of highly rigid metals such as aluminum and magnesium. With its weight reduced to the limit, the Hagane Body eliminates flex, warp, and distortion of the reel, allowing smooth reeling with little power loss. Furthermore, the body protects the engagement of the Hagane Gear and the Micro Module Gear System from shock, while maintaining smooth operation.
SVS Infinity is a centrifugal brake which uses small weights on the inside of the reel to activate the braking. Most braking settings can be achieved using the external dial, but for additional adjustment the internal weights can be engaged or disengaged to adjust the braking resistance.
Shimano’s S3D Stable Spool design delivers improved spool balance as well for reduced vibration and improved casting.
The Super Free bearing-supported pinion gear system (SF) was designed to eliminate friction on the spool shaft during the cast. In standard baitcasting reels, when the clutch bar is pressed down, the pinion gear is freed and can actually drag on the spool shaft, creating friction and limiting the length of the cast. With SF, the pinion gear is supported by a ball bearing, and when the clutch is disengaged the pinion gear and spool shaft are kept in precise alignment. The result is zero friction on the spool shaft for increased freespool.
