#105-E Epoxy Resin
Formulated Specifically to Wet-Out and Bond with Wood
Fiberglass and Metals
|Type||Two-Part Epoxy Resin|
The heart of the WEST SYSTEM family of products, 105 Epoxy Resin is used in a wide variety of boat building and repair projects.
105 Epoxy Resin is a clear, light amber, low-viscosity liquid epoxy resin formulated specifically to wet out and bond with wood, fiberglass and a variety of metals. Multiple coats of a 105 Epoxy Resin create a superior moisture barrier and a tough, stable base for paints and varnishes. 105 Epoxy Resin is formulated without volatile solvents and does not shrink after curing. It has a relatively high flash point and no strong solvent odor, making it safer to work with than polyester or vinylester resins. With roller application, it possesses thin-film characteristics such as excellent flow out and the ability to self level without fish-eyeing. It cures clear and when altered with available additives can be easily sanded and shaped.
Choose from a variety of additives to customize the mix.
105 Epoxy Resin can be mixed with a variety of fillers and additives to suit specific needs, such as sag resistance, sandabilty or to increase its strength. Specific fillers also can be used to convert 105 Epoxy Resin into an excellent adhesive to suit a wide variety of bonding needs.
Speed up or slow down the reaction with available hardeners.
The cure rate of 105 Epoxy Resin can be adjusted to ambient temperature and desired working time. Three hardeners are offered: 205 Fast, 206 Slow, 209 Extra Slow and 207 Special Clear Hardener.
Use a calibrated pump to get the mix right.
Mixing 105 Epoxy Resin with the hardener at the correct ratio is critical. Mixing ratios vary according to the hardener used. Calibrated pumps ensure that you get this right. For mixing large quanties (such as the 52 gallon quantity offered above) Special Purpose Pumps, such as the 306-25 (Model 335703) and the 306-23 (Model 128845) are available. The 306-25 pump mixes resin and hardener at a ratio of 5:1. The 306-23 pump mixes resin and hardener at a ratio of 3:1.
