Outriggers

Increase your odds of success when trolling for surface fish. An outrigger is designed to hold line from your rod using tension release clips that put the fight back in your hands when something bites. Because outriggers are hands-free until a fish strikes, one boat can sport multiple outrigger-supported poles at different angles to lure many fish over a greater area.

Put more lines in the water with outriggers from West Marine.

Outriggers are long poles deployed from the sides of fishing boats to widen the trolling area and accommodate multiple lines. They are common on offshore and Great Lakes sport fishing boats. They consist of rigid or telescopic poles between 15 and 35 feet long that are swung outboard at a wide angle. Outriggers enable trolling of multiple lines on each side of a boat, which is referred to as “stacking”. They position baits or lures outside the wake or prop wash for more life-like action.

When purchasing outriggers you will also need release clips and a rigging kit, which includes everything you need except for the release clips and the poles themselves. To mount outriggers on your boat, you will also need outrigger mounts. Like cars need wheels, outriggers also need rigging kits to connect fishing lines to the poles. West Marine offers outrigger poles, outrigger rigging kits and mounts by Taco and Tigress Marine. Choices also include accessories by AFTCO and Black Marine.
