Strapping & Buckles
The Purpose of Shrink Wrap Strapping and Buckles
Apart from the actual shrink wrap material and a shrink wrap heat gun, there are a lot of “bits and pieces” required as part of the shrink wrapping process. Two of those items are Doctor Shrink’s shrink wrap strapping and shrink wrap strapping buckles.
Shrink wrap strapping and buckles are used in the first step of the shrink wrapping process. Before laying shrink warp material over a boat, shrink wrap support posts (usually 2” x 4” wood posts) must usually be added to support the shrink wrap material over the boat. Shrink wrap strapping is used to support the posts and it is also used to create a tight perimeter band around the boat into which the shrink wrap material is tucked prior the actual shrinking of the material which is accomplished with a shrink wrap heat gun. When properly installed, the perimeter band prevents shrink wrap from chafing, shifting or failing after installation. Shrink wrap strapping protectors can to be applied to any sharp object that may compromise the shrink wrap or to spread the pressure of strapping over a greater area to prevent damage to upholstery and other parts of a boat.
Shrink wrap woven polyester strapping has almost zero stretch. It is offered in standard and heavy-duty versions in 1/2" and 3/4" widths.
