Not sure about West-Marine comments (and substitution), because mine has worked great for 2+ years. I keep it charged on the boat, I keep it charged when at home, I've used it during power-outages at home, great all-around light. Mine came with AC-charger too, so I really don't understand the comments here, unless Brinkmann changed something since I bought it.

this light was a waste of money, I bought too quickly when about to leave on a long voyage of several nights at sea. Charge up the light only lasted about 30 minutes, then must be recharged several hours. the 12volt charger failed early. Its so heavy that my rather strong crew on the bow couldn't hold it up for more that a minute at a time. Darn near useless on a boat.

Comments about Blue Max Marine 2 Million Candlepower Rechargeable Spotlight:

Bought this light so I can see coming into the channels at night. Although it's bright the cord is not nearly long enough nor is the battery life long enough to navigate your way in from a few miles out. I'm installing a remote control light on top of my boat today. Will keep this as a backup.

Comments about Blue Max Marine 2 Million Candlepower Rechargeable Spotlight:

Bought this light last year from West Marine. Salesperson told me it was their best spotlight. Battery will not hold a charge, and now won't charge at all. Light is useless, as new battery costs $20 and $10 more to ship. I feel Brinkmann should replace the battery, but when I called them, they said I had to buy another one. I'm afraid it won't last long either.

          Don't buy this spotlight!

At first the spotlight was great. I really liked the red light feature and the 2 power light settings. After about 1 year the battery would not take a charge. $45/year is a little expensive.

I bought this light and after charging it once, I didn't use it for three weeks. When I went to charge it, it wouldn't take the charge. West Marine was nice enough to give me a replacement and after one use, it again stopped working. For the money I was very dissapointed. I would not recommend buying this product.

Comments about Blue Max Marine 2 Million Candlepower Rechargeable Spotlight:

The light has a low battery life and will not operate on 12v power without a charge on the battery. It takes forever to charge and the charge does not last very long. If you happen to lose the wall charger, you have to order it from Brinkmann as it is a proprietary plug on the batterty.

Comments about Blue Max Marine 2 Million Candlepower Rechargeable Spotlight:

I had this light for about two years. I stored it in the boat most of the time in a cuddy cabin. I used it possibly 5 times for a total of about 2 hours of short bursts locating markers. It is a very bright and strong beam. BUT, It quit working after a full charge when I needed it at night to navigate lasting only about 5 minutes of intermitant use. I charged it up again with no light at all. I opened the light to find no corrosion at all. So...it's probably the battery or the bulb but, with this track record, I'm not going any further than the garbage can with this light.

I put it uner my center console 1 time and forgot to bring it back in one night when it rained. the light filled with water and the battery failed because it is poorly sealed. Battery got wet and the wires coroded off the contacts after getting wet just 1 time even after i dried it off when it got wet.
It is also extremely top heavy and very cumbersome to hold while using
I would not recommend this light to anyone

Overall a fine light, if it worked. The charger failed shortly after purchase, which puts it in the same class as the cheap ones that can be purchased from the box stores for much less.... and just throw away when they fail.
