Since the original sump pump box was a Rule product, this product was an easy install and fit perfectly, however,it is immediately obvious that this is much better than the originally OEM installed unit with updated Rule pump that draws less amperage, and a better filter easier to remove. I highly recommend this sump pump.

These mass-market consumer products are utterly unreliable for serious boating - because of the inferior, unreliable bilge pumps and float switches they rely upon. Purchased as a spare for a similar Attwood product after experiencing failures requiring replacement about every 2 years during year-round cruising. Installed about 2 years after purchasing. Probably never used. One visit to the boat the pump was running dry. Float switch appeared to have friction problem and turned off if pushed down. Couldn't repair and am too far from US for cost-effective replacement. Anyway, need more reliable components.
Approximate 2-year life seems common to many of the "plastic" bilge pumps and float switches even in true bilge pump applications. Maybe WM needs to contemplate a higher grade line of reliable products.

      Comments about Shower Sump System:

The original shower sump in my 2000 Sea Ray failed and the sump box was very filthy. Rather than just installing a new pump and float, I chose to replace the entire apparatus. It was very easy!

      Service and delivery comments:

        Comments about Shower Sump System:

In the first year the float failed, staying on continuously. The was due to an internal short as cleaning the unit and manually flipping the float did not open the circuit. West marine did provide me a new float switch, which was easier than re installing the entire unit. However, a year later the unit failed again.

I've opted to replace the unit entirely with a different manufacturer altogether. I'm too afraid to unknowingly fill up my bilge with smell shower water.

Comments about Rule Industries Shower Sump System:

The ultra float switch failed after being used 5 or 6 times. The 3 year warranty had expired and Rule would not replace it, even with this very low usage. I've replaced it with a Johnson switch; we'll see if it gives me longer service.

Comments about Rule Industries Shower Sump System:

My boat has two of these pumps. One is for the AC condensation and the other is for the Master State Room, shower & sink. I stay on the boat no more than 1 night per week, I have replaced the AC condensation pump twice in 3 years and the one for the shower has gone out again after I replaced it two years ago. This is very inconvenient and costly. Would recommend another option for disposing of this water on a boat.

This product was original equipment in my 2002 Sea Ray 320 Sundancer. It worked fine for about 2 years, then quit. I ordered a replacement, which only lasted 14 months. I ordered another, with an extended warranty, replaced 2 in 2 years. Guess what? it's out again. I just ordered a different brand. What a piece of JUNK!!
