          Comments about Marine-Tex Repair Kit:

I used the epoxy to repair a 6" damaged spot on my Waverunner hull. The work was overhead since I was working under my trailer. The epoxy instructions were clear and easy to follow. I measured quantities with a tablespoon to get the right mix. Application with fiberglass matt was easy and the spot sanded nicely to an almost polished 600 grit surface. Painting was a breeze with Rust-O-Lean Universal spray paint. The patch withstood some very hard bumps on the water a couple of days after the patch.

                Comments about Marine-Tex Repair Kit:

I prepared the screw holes I was repairing with acetone. There was some wood behind the fiberglass I was repairing. I wasn't wet or rotten but had deteriorated. So getting all the loosened debris out of those holes was suspect. Mixing this product in a small container was easy. Having a device to inject it all the way into the rear storage hatch hinge holes & anchor hinge holes would have been ideal. However I had to spread it/insert the MarineTex with a tiny screw driver. This took 15 minutes for 14 3/16 inch holes. It didn't set up too quickly in the container I mixed it in. I was concerned about that. I used a putty knife to remove/spread the excess MarineTex from around the holes very easily. I let it dry overnight. Putting the screws back in the repaired holes the next day was difficult. It does harden as claimed. After getting the screws started in the holes, it did feel as if they were being driven into untapped fiberglass glass. Very firm. Time will tell if they hold as expected.

                Comments about Marine-Tex Repair Kit:

Although it hardens slowly, and is tacky and thus messy, this product is better than epoxy or fiberglass to repair cracks, holes and fissures below the water line. You will have to sand it once it hardens, but the result will create a better seal and have more strength than the surrounding fiberglass. I replaced the bilge scupper on an '88 whaler. The fiberglass above and below decks cracked and chipped away. Fiberglass did not work below deck as the boat's foam core was wet/water logged. Marine Tex adhered to the hull and hardened to a strength stronger and more dense then the original fiberglass. After sanding the surface smooth the scupper fit perfectly, and all water leaks stopped. Although M/T is expensive it is worth every penny; or, as I tell my wife you'll only cry once.

                    Comments about Marine-Tex Repair Kit:

I've done body work on cars in my youth so I'm very familiar with this type of product for cars ("Bondo") but never used a marine product. I just purchased a used boat with a few "beauty marks" that needed minor filling both above and below the waterline, this product was recommended by one of your store staff. The material is very easy to mix and has a longer working time than automotive products I've used which is a big plus, not much mixed material goes to waste. It dries to a good hardness, easy to form/shape and the color match (white) looks great !
