The 'deck' side of the connector has a plastic insert that is brittle. First one broke. The screws for each of the pins are too small - and strip too easily compared with other similar industry parts. If you fully 'open up' a socket by backing the screw out, the screw falls out; that is poor design/screw selection. As other reviewer said, cable-side connector has head that is too small to accommodate the individual connectors - and allow them to be routed without shorting. Also west marine doesn't sell a compatible 4-conductor cable. Only way to water 'proof' it is to heat shrink over connector and wires. Anyone at West Marine reading this?

Comments about Electrical Connectors:

The plastic is quite brittle, the screws for holding the wires are the type used in watches..... very small and difficult to get tight/good contact with the wires without stripping the head. If you must buy this crud, make sure you have a JEWELER's screw driver. The top seal for the 4 wire version is far too small for the wire within my mast, so you might need secondary needs to keep the water out.

    Comments about Electrical Connectors:

I bought these and regret the purchase. The package indicates use #6 screws, but they are too big for the pre drilled holes so after all the fiddling around to install the wires, i then had to drill out the mounting holes. The wire attachment screws were different sizes on two "identical" pieces I bought and 1 of the connectors worked fairly well, while I had to drill out the screw hole access to get a screwdriver in to tighten the screw. These were bought off the shelf, same day, same store and really are not the same...

    Service and delivery comments:

West Marine stores are always clean neat and the staff is great.

            Comments about Electrical Connectors:

The inside plastic that hold the male connectors shattered after three months of use. Screws to hold the wire are of miniature jewelry type size unsuitable to screw/unscrew twice and to be outdoors in the elements.

                  Comments about Electrical Connectors:

Others have cited the weak internal parts. But the worst part is how the hood of the plug requires the wires to bend sharply. The corner of the inside of the hood is relatively sharp and will cut right through insulation if the wires don't fit perfectly. The strain relief is minimal and only works for a limited range of wire diameters. The lack of decent strain relief exacerbates the likelihood of shorting.
