      Comments about Marine Silicone Sealant:

Note that this silicone product has the characteristic smell of acetic acid when used. May not be appropriate for re-seating port lights, based on commentary that accompanies some on-line instructions for port light re-sealing/re-seating. Otherwise, appropriate for above-the-water line sealing projects.

I needed to caulk the seams of a repaired deck panel in my boat. The West Marine silicone caulk performed as described, flowing smoothly and making an attractive finished appearance.

        Comments about Marine Silicone Sealant:

I like this sealant very much. I couldn't give it a perfect rating because I don't yet know how it will stand up over time. The one con that I will mention is that the tube was very hard to puncture.

Comments about West Marine Marine Silicone Sealant, Clear, 10oz. Tube:

I used this product to seal the holes in the transum where I screwed the brackets for the swim platform. I wouldn't hesitate to use this product anywhere on the boat for openings that need to be sealed and waterproofed. I think 10oz was a little too much, so get a smaller tube a little goes a long way and if your sealing a big hole you better find something else.

The tube is a failure; buy the 3M brand

              Best Uses

                Comments about Marine Silicone Sealant:

The small squeeze-type tube is terrible. The cap includes a sharp point for breaking the seal on the tube, but once broken, the seal becomes a flap that keeps obstructing the flow of the sealant. Unscrew the applicator cap, clear, repeat, repeat, repeat. What a mess. The 3M tube doesn't do this.
