WEST SYSTEM
#410 Microlight Filler

410 Microlight is the ideal low-density filler. Blending with WEST SYSTEM Epoxy, it creates a light fairing compound that is easily worked and is especially suited for fairing large areas. Microlight mixes with greater ease than 407 Low-Density filler or microballoons and is approximately 30 percent easier to sand. It feathers to a fine edge and is also more economical for large fairing jobs. Not recommended under dark paint or other surfaces subject to high temperatures. Color—tan.

    Comments about #410 Microlight Filler:

This was used to provide final fairing on major deck repairs of a 27 foot fiberglass sailboat.

Bought the West System 410 microlight filler to use with my West System 105/206 Epoxy Hardener to compare it to the premixed 2-part 3M fairing mixture. Good that I got the West System stuff. The 3M filler cracked on drying (Max thickness was ⅛ inch to ¼ inch) and I had to sand it off completely. I redid my fairing to the same thickness with the West System material. It was easy to mix in the 410 microlight filler to get a good "past" that didn't run. The 206 hardener allowed me plenty of work time on a warm day. It did not crack; it also sanded well. Forget the 3M filler. I'm sold on using the West System material.

Excellent filler for many resin applications. Lite and easy to sand. Aesthetics are not the best, needs exterior paint for a cleaner finish.

        Comments about #410 Microlight Filler:

When thoroughly mixed into resin/hardener, it's easy to control viscosity from soupy to stiff. Goes on easily, spreads easily, needs to be tipped to avoid high spots and low spots, but does level a bit on horizontal surfaces. Can sag on vertical or overhead surfaces, so don't put on too thick in one layer. Sands and fairs well to a fine surface ready for an unfilled epoxy top coat before finishing.
