Data Request under California Consumer Privacy Act
All California residents have the following rights under California Consumer Privacy Act:
Information Collected by West Marine:
Disclosure regarding collection of Personal information, including the categories of personal information that West Marine collects, the categories of sources of such information, our business purpose for collecting or sharing such information, and the categories of third parties with whom we share such information. This information is available in our Privacy Policy.
- Request my information: request and receive a copy of the personal information we have collected about You during the prior 12 months. Request and receive disclosure of our information sharing practices during the prior 12 months, including a list of the categories of personal information about You that we shared with the category of third party recipients and a list of the categories of personal information about You that we disclosed for a business purpose.
- Do not Sell my information: request that we not “sell” personal information about You. West Marine does not sell Personal Information, however, we use the information to market our products, and may share information with third parties for this purpose.
- Delete my information: request that we delete (and direct our service providers to delete) your personal information subject to certain exceptions. California law permits us to retain certain information and not to delete it under certain circumstances.
Exceptions:
We are not required to comply with a request to delete information if the information is necessary for us to complete a transaction for you or otherwise perform a contract; to detect, protect against, or prosecute security incidents, fraud or illegal activity; to use the information only internally in ways reasonably aligned with your expectations as our customer (such as maintaining order history), and to comply with legal obligations.
Verification:
We will send you a verification email to confirm the request. To verify your identity and comply with your request, we may require additional information from you. The verification process helps us to confirm your identity, and ensure proper compliance. For any person below the age of 18, their legal guardian may make such request. Anyone holding a valid Power of Attorney for you may also submit a request on your behalf.
