The best fishing rod for you depends on the type of fishing you want to do. If you’re into freshwater fishing, a lighter rod with a fast action tip is great for sensitivity. For saltwater fishing or targeting larger species, go with a heavier rod with medium to slow action for more strength and durability. When selecting a trolling motor, consider your boat’s length and weight. A good rule of thumb is 2 lbs of thrust for every 100 lbs of your boat’s weight.
