Push Poles
Push Poles for the Modern Era
“Me gotta go, pole the pirogue down the bayou...” A lot of water has passed under our boats since 1952 when Hank Williams first sang the above lyrics in his song “Jambalaya”. Fast forward to today and what would have been a heavy hardwood pole back then has been transformed into a selection of high-tech, lightweight aluminum or fiberglass composite push poles that enable anglers to silently maneuver through “skinny water” to the ideal spot to make a catch. Choices include telescopic push poles for boats that accommodate different water depths. Features include footings that provide traction in mud and sharp ends for poling across hard pack sand or oyster shell bottoms.
