Smoke and heat alarms help to keep boats safe.

If you have a boat with an enclosed cabin, we strongly recommend that you install a boat fire alarm. West Marine offers smoke and heat detector/alarms by Fireboy-Xintex and MTI Industries. The 170° Heat Detector by Fireboy-Xintex is ideal for locations that are dirty or smoky under normal conditions such as engine and generator rooms. For a general purpose smoke/fire alarm, consider their SS-775 Smoke and Fire Alarm. This alarm uses the ionization principle of detection for detecting fast-flaming fires which consume combustible materials rapidly and spread fast. The SS-775 meets the requirement of UL 217.
