Men's Shock Light Boat Shoes
Ultra-lightweight. Ultra-quick drying. Ultra-soft. Ultra-traction. Ultra-cool.
Quite simply, Sperry's Shock Light Boat Shoes are designed to make your days on the water much more comfortable and safe. Think soft, light, shock-absorbing clouds for your feet that stick to wet decks like an insurance selling reptile (more on that later). Shoes you'll quickly forget you even have on. That is until you realize all that pounding and vibration your boat is experiencing isn't being transferred to your body and you don't have to worry as much about staying in the boat!
You're probably wondering how they do that and why you don't already have a pair. We'll explain the "how they do what they do" part below. As to why you don't have a pair, just select the color, size and quantity you want, click the red "Add To Cart" button and you'll soon be one of the people who can't remember what boating was like without them! Imported.
The Look: These technical marvels don't resemble typical boat shoes. They look more like minimalist running shoes with laces along the sides. However, unlike running shoes (which we don't recommend you wear on boats), these shoes provide lateral support for the side-to-side movements and shifts in weight you'll be using on deck.
The Uppers: Their ultra-lightweight nylon and mesh uppers combined with mesh linings give Shock Light Boat Shoes the ability to shed water and dry quickly so having to suffer through a day of soggy, clammy, heavy shoes are a thing of the past. They're also breathable to keep your feet cooler when the temperature or your activity level increases.
The Lacing: A feature Sperry shoes are known for—their 360° Lacing System™ with rust proof eyelets. Unlike lesser boat shoes, Sperry provides for a secure fit all the way around your feet, not just across your insteps. Why does that matter? When your shoes get wet they have a tendency to separate themselves from you if they aren't tight around the outside of your feet. Shock Light Boat Shoes also feature stretchy laces with an adjustable bungee lock that allows you to pull them tight quickly without having to tie them or worry about them coming untied as you race in ahead of that threatening storm. The lacing also improves overall stability since it will keep your shoes from slipping around on your feet.
Stretch Collars: You'll notice the way the stretchy, one-piece tongue-collar-heel "bootie-like" combos hug your feet as soon as you slip your Shock Light's on. Sort of like gloves for your feet. Once you tighten the laces and secure them with the bungee locks you'll now have shoes you can pull on or off without having to mess with the laces each time. If they do ever start to feel loose, simply give the laces a tug and slide the bungee lock down again.
Padded Tongues: This might seem like an insignificant feature...until you snug your shoes up really tight so they stay on when the going gets wet! No one wants insteps that feel like they've been in a vice all day. The right amount of padding in the right place means these shoes will feel just as comfortable at the end of the day as when you first put them on.
The Heels: This is where the game changes drastically! These Shock Light Boat Shoes feature Anti Shock and Vibration (ASV) Technology™ that's designed to reduce the effects of shock encountered during extreme boating conditions by up to 30% in the heel. A great way to stop foot, leg and back pain before it ever starts.
The Insoles: Full-length, compression-molded ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) insoles are included that will mold to the shape of your feet after only a few wearings for a cushioned fit that feels like they were made just for you. The insoles are removable so you can take them out and let your shoes completely dry before your next boating adventure or so you can add your own custom orthotics.
The Midsoles: Once again Sperry uses EVA for cushioning. This time in the midsoles. And since they run the length of the shoes, these cushioned midsoles provide all-day, under-foot shock absorption.
The Outsoles: Any boat shoes worth their salt have to have soles that keep you firmly in contact with wet gelcoat (what boat decks are typically covered in). Shock Light Boat Shoes go a step further. Making use of Sperry's patented Adaptive Wave-Siping™, these shoes use tiny, wavy slits in combination with larger and deeper wavy grooves to disperse water away from the soles and give you the kind of grip typically only seen with geckos (reptilian salesmen who reportedly can stick to almost every known surface outside of Teflon). Whether your footing is wet or dry, these shoes will help prevent a rise in MOB (Man Overboard) statistics while you're scrambling across a heeling deck. Not only that, they're non-marking. Translation: You won't leave ugly black streaks on "The Captain's" pristine white gelcoat. You'll spend your time enjoying the view rather than swabbing the deck!
