Modern boats rely on increasingly complex electrical systems, from high-output trolling motors to multi-bank charging systems, inverters, and more electronics than ever before. Managing these power systems safely and efficiently demands equipment that is robust, reliable, and easy to install and understand. Egis Mobile Electric can simplify management of power distribution, engine mains, battery charging and more via the XD Battery Switch series.
Egis Mobile Electric
West Marine now carries Egis Mobile Electric components including XD-Series Battery Switches, a family of products designed to solve many of the power-management challenges boaters face today. Whether you want a simple remote battery disconnect, a voltage-sensing relay (VSR), also known as automatic charging relay (ACR) for dual or multi-battery management, or a fully NMEA 2000–integrated high-current digital switch solution, the XD Series offers options that are compact, powerful, and designed for the marine environment.
What Makes the XD Series different from rotary battery switches or other battery management solutions?
Compact, High-Power Capability
Every XD switch position is built around a 500-amp continuous-duty 1600-amp intermittent-duty bi-stable relay (Enough capacity for virtually any 12V or 24V marine battery switching application). Despite this rating, XD products feature a surprisingly small footprint, making them ideal for tight engine rooms and battery compartments.
Forward-Facing Wiring Studs
Make your installation beautiful by routing wires to the pre-installed XD battery switch’s forward-facing wiring studs. No back-side wiring requiring the installation to vary because the switch is mounted after the wiring is completed.
Remote Control
Rather than typical lengthy Line and Load battery cables coming from the battery to a convenient switch location and then out to power distribution, the XD battery switch can be installed closer to the battery and the integrated remote-control wires are then used to control the switch at your desired convenient location thus reducing weight and installation hassle.
Ultra-Low Power Draw
Both Flex 2 and NMEA 2000 XD models use bi-stable coils that only draw power during state changes. Flex 2 units draw a combined 1.3 mA in standby, the lowest in their class. NMEA 2000 models draw only 15 mA combined standby power consumption while still reporting battery voltage, switch status, and manual-override state over the network.
Manual Override for Peace of Mind
Most XD units include front-facing manual-override knobs that allow you to lock a switch ON or OFF regardless of remote-control state. This is crucial for service situations or emergencies where digital / remote control isn’t available.
Integrated Functions Mean Greater Application Versatility
Flex 2: ‘The Most Versatile Battery Switch Line in Boating’ can be configured as a remote battery disconnect or Voltage Sensing Relay (VSR). Configuration of function and VSR control voltage thresholds is achieved through onboard dip switches that let installers tailor behavior without programming.
Flexible Installation Options
XD Battery Switch modules come in single, dual, and triple relay configurations, allowing you to build multi-bank battery systems in a compact space. Optional Link Bar allows for interfacing to multiple XD Battery Switch modules without additional wiring needed. Remote Control wiring accepts various options to switch the device adapting to many remote switch types.
Mechanical-Only Versions Available
Mechanical-only variants include the same high-power capacity and compact size but without remote control electronics.
NMEA 2000 Versions for Integrated Systems Control or the Techie
For boaters with modern integrated native NMEA 2000 digital switching multifunction displays (MFDs), the XD NMEA 2000 series provides fully digital switching of high-power battery circuits via NMEA 2000. Each switch reports ON/OFF state, manual override status, and battery voltage on input studs. Even with NMEA 2000, the XD switches still accept discrete analog control and manual override. Device instance numbers, battery voltage reporting, relay vs. VSR behavior, and VSR ON/OFF thresholds are all configured via integrated dipswitch(s).
Flex System Height Compatibility
West Marine carries Flex System height compatible fuse blocks & busbars and are engineered for easy connectivity to XD Series relays. These Flex System products can be connected to the XD Series via smaller interconnect busbars to a wide array of ATM/MINI, MIDI/AMI, AMG/MEGA, ANL, Class T, and MRBF fuse blocks. A further selection of Flex System components, including 250-600 Amp busbars and Power Posts enables an ample supply of power distribution options. Look for the Flex System logo on the box for easy reference.
Industry Leading Warranty
Egis Mobile Electric warrants the XD Battery Switch Series to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 4 years from the original date of purchase by the end user.

For lower amperage VSR/ACR applications, West Marine carries a range of Egis Mobile Electric’s VSRs in addition to the XD Series, the 160 Amp VSR/ACR (P/N: 7610) and 125 Amp Mini D-VSR (P/N 6601). These relays can provide convenient remote switching but do not include the manual override feature of the XD series. Understanding system voltages, house loads and alternator charging output will help identify which VSR is right for your system.
