Most stainless steel is subject to some corrosion or rusting, particularly in saltwater environments. Stainless is therefore “passivated” or protected from corrosion by immersion in a heated bath of phosphates which form a passive oxide film on the metal. Wichinox is a nonhazardous paste containing phosphoric acid that will re-passivate and protect your stainless steel.
