The information in the ad recommend a anode. I had to removed the drain valve to install one in the unit.

Comments about West Marine 120V Marine Water Heater with Heat Exchanger, 6 Gallon, Front/Rear Mounts:

Quality of this product seems high. All aluminum construction makes it big improvement over previous models that used steel enclosure and steel mounting tabs that rusted. 6 gallon model is used on 31' cruiser. Heats quickly with its 1500W element or engine heat exchange. Not enough volume for more than one short shower, but plenty of volume and capacity to supply my galley and head sinks (3 Fixtures). Just installed it a month ago, so far so good.

Comments about West Marine 120V Marine Water Heater with Heat Exchanger, 6 Gallon, Front/Rear Mounts:

Replaced my aging (15 yo) 6 gallon heater with this new one. Thankfully took pictures of the wiring hookup before removing the old tank, which made installing the new one easier. I have little electrical knowledge, but this was easy to figure out.

I recommend also purchasing the brass and plastic fittings for hooking the cold and hot fresh water lines (in/out) as the unit doesn't come with them. The plastic on the old fittings was brittle and snapped when taking the old unit out. These can be purchased for less than $12 bucks.

                  Overall, great value.

Comments about West Marine 120V Marine Water Heater with Heat Exchanger, 6 Gallon, Front/Rear Mounts:

Appears to be well made. However the heater does not hold water hot for very long after shutdown. My last heater was a Calorifier from the UK. It would hold water HOT for 16 hours. This unit after 10 hours is lukewarm. However I paid half as much for this new one than the previous. I do believe it to be a good buy and a great value.

                  Service and delivery comments:

                  Great service as always!
