With or without Windlass, these are very helpful to know how much rode you have out. I added windlass this summer with a new rode, I had these in my previous rode and felt very lost without these markers in my new rode. If you're not keeping track of them on the way out, you may get unlucky with the marker you stop at facing the wrong way as the number is only on one side. These would be much improved with the number on both sides - four stars.

While the idea is fine, I found these snagged and got held up while running the line through a block. Others have said the flags work fine in a windlass, which may be true, but if you need to run your rode through a block, you may be better off using coloured whipping twine and a sailmakers or westcountry whip.

Simple, easy, bright, color code. Can snag on your hand a little. If you have problems installing these, you should stay off a boat and never go near water. Going to use glue and put them on the chain

Not much to say. If you want numbers marking the depth of your anchor rode, these will do it! They are pretty easy to install and the bright colors make them easy to see.

Comments about West Marine Anchor Rode Markers:

The brief directions state "simply insert the markers between the rope strands." The strands have to be separated to insert the markers and, while some of the markers inserted fine, the rope hockled in a way I never thought possible while trying to insert one of the markers in the middle of the rode. Attempting to fix it only made it worse. It compromised my rode, and I had to replace 200 feet of anchor rode. In addition, the markers have numbers only on one side. I'll mark my rodes using an alternate method.

Comments about West Marine Anchor Rode Markers:

The depths aren't all useful. Especially for smaller boats with 100' rode and worse if shorter.
Fortunately, a little acetone removes a number without adversely effecting the flag. Thus; 250 feet becomes 25, etc..

Comments about West Marine Anchor Rode Markers:

I installed these flags on my main anchor rode and on my secondary anchor rode. The main anchor rode goes through a windlass and time will tell if they hold up. I had one flag get half ripped on the first time reeling it in. I had to make it roll against the rode to prevent it from getting caught in the gypsy. It seems to work now and the rest went through with no problems. The seconday rode doesn't go through the windlass so I don't see any problems with that. The flags certainly helps to know how much rode is out and so I can tell other boaters.

Easy to install and highly visible. I had been using a system of plastic zip ties to mark my anchor line and picked these up while in WM without giving them much thought; glad I did.
