ACR ResQFlare Electronic Distress Flare
The ACR ResQFlare is a high-intensity LED electronic distress flare designed as a reusable alternative to traditional pyrotechnic flares. When carried with the included orange daytime distress flag, the ResQFlare meets U.S. Coast Guard visual distress signaling requirements and can replace required pyrotechnic flares on most U.S. recreational boats.
The ResQFlare features seven high-efficiency white LEDs that emit the international Morse code SOS distress signal, providing 360° visibility for more than six miles under suitable conditions. Powered by two user-replaceable C-cell alkaline batteries, the light maintains a minimum peak equivalent fixed intensity of 75 candela for more than 20 hours at room temperature, exceeding the USCG minimum duration requirement.
The included orange distress flag provides a daytime visual distress signal and can be displayed from a mast, held by hand, or laid flat on deck to attract attention from aircraft. The ResQFlare features waterproof, buoyant construction that allows it to float upright without an additional flotation ring. Unlike traditional pyrotechnic flares, it produces no burning flame, has no fixed expiration date, and does not require hazardous pyrotechnic disposal.
