Ready to change the way you fish from a kayak forever?

Try a pedal-powered kayak for under $2,000!

An ordinary kayak requires both of your hands to be occupied with paddling if you want to move through still water or steer in your intended direction in current or surf. Not so with Perception's Pescador Pilot 12.0 Angler Kayak! This affordable sit-on-top comes complete with the Pilot Drive pedal drive system that provides an easy way to propel you and all your fishing gear in the water using only your legs and feet. That means your hands are freed up to point the rudder where you want to go, adjust your fishfinder, bait your hook, cast towards that ripple, fight and land fish and take the inevitable selfie with your trophy catch! Plus, it's pre-rigged so it's ready to hold all your fishing gear. With a load capacity of 475 pounds—that's right 475 pounds—is there anything you'll need that this kayak won't carry for you? Probably not. And at just over 12 feet long, the Pescador Pilot is built for the tracking and stability experienced anglers expect from their kayak.

If you are new to fishing from a kayak, why choose a sit-on-top over a sit-inside kayak? Options! It's easier to add accessories. You'll have a better view of the water (and potential obstacles) around you and it's also easier to get out and back in if you feel the need to wade. Some fishermen even like the ability to hang a leg over the side when dealing with a large fish. Since you'll be more open to the elements, expect to get wet. If the water's warm, wear clothing that dries quickly and protects you from the sun's damaging rays. If the water or air is cold, you'll want to wear gear that also provides extra warmth. Neoprene shoes or boots (sold separately) feel really good instead of cold, wet feet after a day out in the elements.

Pilot Drive

Balancing simplicity and ingenuity, the Pilot Drive is performance-engineered to easily propel you on all-day fishing trips in forward and reverse—hands free! This ergonomically optimized, removable drive features a Quick Key zero draft option when you need to retract the propeller and patent-pending Turbo Flaps that help to keep turbulence to a minimum so you won't scare off the fish. The padded pedals provide comfort even when you're barefoot. The 14" prop allows for easy acceleration and an efficient cruising speed. Simple to operate, just insert the Quick Key to quickly engage or disengage the drive. A recess in the hull and a center scupper lid makes it easy to transport and store the drive when it's not in use. When pedaling, the draft is approximately 16" for easy maneuvering whether you're in the shallows or deep water. When stowed, the zero draft lets you launch and exit without fear of damaging your prop.

Hull Design

Perception's custom, high-grade polyethylene plastic and distinct rotational molding process provides exceptional strength and durability. With its seamless, one-piece construction, the Pescador Pilot is highly UV-, abrasion- and impact-resistant for years of trouble-free performance. The thickness is varied throughout the hull for extra strength when needed, but without the additional weight. These kayaks are actually easily repaired, recyclable and manufactured with less waste than conventional roto-molding.

Captain's Chair

The oh-so comfortable Captain's Chair features fore and aft adjustment to optimize your pedaling position so the fish will tire out way before your legs do. The mesh back and bottom dry quickly and stay cool when the weather (and the fishing) heats up. Straps adjust and recline the back frame and since it is set on rails, you can slide the seat forward or backward while underway. The seat is elevated above the cockpit for a better view for sight casting and to keep you above any water that makes its way inside your boat.

Fishing-Specific Features

The Pescador Pilot is outfitted with lots of features to make it simple to gear up for epic fishing trips. You'll find four molded-in rod holders behind the seat that can be used with any standard fishing rods, gaffs or landing nets. Recessed YakAttack GearTracs are located on both sides and feature a T-slot to allow you to easily add accessories and then move them around or remove them as your needs change. The cockpit features two storage pods for easily mounting electronics and a transducer scupper to install your fishfinder transducer. A Power-Pole® mounting point is also conveniently located at the stern for adding a shallow-water anchor.

If you don't already own one, you'll want to order a life jacket (sold separately) so you'll be ready to get out there and catch your limit right away!
