GARMIN Descent™ S1 Diver Communication Buoy
Discover a deeper connection with the Descent S1 diver communication buoy. Using SubWave™ sonar networking, this revolutionary buoy works with the Garmin dive ecosystem, enabling topside crew members to monitor and track their dive groups — as well as exchange preset messages with divers wearing a compatible dive computer paired with a Descent™ T2 transceiver.
Networked divers can also see their distance and direction to the buoy for return-to-base.
Via the Garmin Dive™ app, preset messages can be sent and received by topside crew connected to divers wearing Descent T2 transceivers paired to compatible dive computers below, alerting divers if there’s a situation they need to know about. In addition, the Descent S1 buoy extends the range of diver-to-diver messaging while in the water. Some compatible dive computers can receive, but not send, messages. Conditions such as surface, waves, chop, objects and diver position can obstruct the signal and reduce range.
Surface crew can monitor divers equipped with compatible dive computers paired with Descent™ T2 transceivers to keep track of tank pressures, depths, distances and directions for up to 8 divers on the Subwave™ sonar network. Automatic alerts can let topside crew know if there’s an issue with tanks or depth ranges below22Conditions such as surface, waves, chop, objects and diver position can obstruct the signal and reduce range.
Viewers at the surface can track the approximate range to each diver in the SubWave sonar network, up to 100 meters away from the Descent S1 buoy2 .2Conditions such as surface, waves, chop, objects and diver position can obstruct the signal and reduce range.
Key Features
- SubWave™ Sonar Networking
Enables real-time communication and tracking between surface crew and divers using compatible Garmin dive computers and Descent™ T2 transceivers. - Two-Way Messaging
Exchange preset messages between topside crew and divers to relay updates, alerts, or return-to-base instructions. - Return-to-Base Guidance
Divers can view distance and direction to the buoy for safe and efficient navigation back to the surface. - Extended Communication Range
Boosts diver-to-diver messaging capabilities underwater, enhancing group coordination and safety. - Live Diver Monitoring
Track tank pressure, depth, distance, and direction for up to 8 divers simultaneously via the SubWave™ network. - Garmin Dive™ App Integration
Surface crew can send and receive messages and monitor diver status directly from the app. - Automatic Safety Alerts
Sends notifications to topside crew if divers exceed depth limits or experience tank pressure issues. - 100-Meter Range
Tracks diver positions up to 100 meters from the buoy, depending on water conditions and visibility. - Built for Harsh Conditions
Engineered to perform in challenging marine environments including waves, chop, and surface interference.
