Harken 40mm Switch Battcar - Luff Car
Complete Your Purchase
The Harken 40mm Switch Battcar Intermediate Car carries the sail at intermediate positions between battens within Harken's award-winning, patented Switch T-Track Battcar system, built for the mainsails of large yachts and superyachts. The Switch system cuts mainsail stack height by half, automatically routing the cars onto two parallel tracks so they stack neatly side-by-side atop the boom, making it far easier to fit sail covers and to connect or disconnect halyards. The switch plate has no moving parts for outstanding reliability, and the cars run on low-friction plastic slides for smooth, controlled hoisting and dousing even when close reaching in a strong breeze. Each car is made from high-strength aluminum, Hard Lube-anodized and UV-stabilized to resist sun, salt, and abrasion over the long term. Intermediate cars distribute sail load evenly along the luff between the batten-end cars, keeping the sail set cleanly on the track. The 40mm system suits monohulls over 43 m (140') and multihulls over 27 m (90') carrying mainsails over 350 m², and offers a lower-cost, higher-performance alternative to in-mast or in-boom furling with no need to recut sails. Available in black or clear anodized finish.
