Lake Wateree is in north central South Carolina between Charlotte, North Carolina and Columbia, South Carolina just off I-77 and I-20. It is a very old lake built in 1920 on the Wateree River. Wateree is owned and managed by the Duke Power Company a subsidiary of Duke Energy Corporation that owns several other lakes in South Carolina. Lake Wateree covers an area of 13,700 acres and has about 242 miles of shoreline with a length of 16 miles and lies within three different counties: Fairfield, Kershaw, and Lancaster. Fishing include: Crappie, Bream, Largemouth Bass, Catfish, Stripped Bass.
