The Lewmar DC2 Triple Rope Clutch redefines rope clutch technology with a patented Domino cluster mechanism that flexes the line rather than jamming it with teeth—the traditional primary cause of line abrasion. A series of smooth, in-line and parallel rings hinged at the base are run through with the line, then tilted by a single connecting lever. When tilted, the rings force the line to snake through them, generating the friction needed to hold it securely under load. When released, the rings resume their former configuration, allowing the line to straighten and be eased smoothly and gradually. This revolutionary approach has been independently tested and has won awards for its innovative framework.

The DC2 is Lewmar's high-load variant in the DC series (the DC1 handles lower loads), engineered to manage the demands of main halyards, genoa halyards, and other heavily loaded lines on performance sailboats. The triple configuration allows three lines to be controlled from a single clutch unit, reducing deck clutter and simplifying line management. When selecting a size, it is best to choose the clutch whose upper rope range is closest to the actual line diameter in use—this ensures maximum Domino deflection and grip.
