Windlasses are not designed to hold high loads while a boat is at anchor. When the windlass is not in use and the boat is at anchor, the chain should be secured using a chain stopper or the rope rode should be attached to a load-bearing point such as a cleat. Lewmar has created a new range of cast stainless chain stoppers made from 316 stainless steel, perfect for sleep-filled nights and lazy lunches at anchor.
This levered chain stopper fits 13–14 mm (1/2–9/16 in) anchor chain. The 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16 mm chain stoppers in the Lewmar range each have a Safe Working Load (SWL) that is greater than the SWL of the chain itself, ensuring the stopper is never the weak link in your anchoring system. The lever design allows the stopper to be quickly and easily engaged or disengaged without tools, making it convenient for regular use in all anchoring situations.
Constructed entirely from marine-grade 316 stainless steel, this chain stopper resists corrosion and delivers long-lasting durability in saltwater environments.
