MUSTANG SURVIVAL HIT™ Automatic Inflatable Life Jacket with Harness

Get an automatically inflating life jacket and a sailing safety harness in one purpose-built PFD. This is Mustang Survival's top-of-the-line inflatable life jacket, combining Hammar® Hydrostatic Inflator Technology (HIT™) with an integrated sailing harness for serious offshore and coastal sailors who need both flotation and a secure clip-in point in one piece of gear.

The Hydrostatic Inflator Technology offers reliable inflation in a low-maintenance design that only triggers automatically once submerged in 4" or more of water pressure — never inadvertently from rain, spray, or humidity. This technology is exclusive to Mustang Survival in North America and is maintenance-free for 5 years from the date of manufacture or until it inflates, meaning far less servicing than older inflator designs. Once inflated, the vest provides 38 lbs of buoyancy, more than double what a typical foam PFD offers, giving you a substantial margin of safety in rough water.

Built for the most severe marine environments, the HIT PFD is constructed from a lightweight outer shell fabric borrowed from the body armor industry, so it holds up to years of harsh sun, salt, and abrasion without adding bulk. The patented SecureZip™ closure system keeps the vest securely shut through the most rigorous activity on deck, yet opens effortlessly the instant the bladder inflates. This lightweight, low-profile design can be worn comfortably over a t-shirt on warm days or layered over heavier gear in cold conditions, without restricting the mobility sailors need when working lines and hardware.

Safety and visibility were built in at every level. The inflation cell is a bright fluorescent yellow-green, the color research has shown to be most visible to rescuers in a man-overboard scenario, and it's trimmed with SOLAS reflective tape, a safety whistle, and a strobe light attachment point so you can be found quickly if you end up in the water.

Key Features:

  • Integrated Sailing Harness: Two heavy-duty stainless steel D-rings built into the front of the vest for secure tether attachment while moving around the boat.
  • Multiple Inflation Methods: Automatic hydrostatic activation, plus a manual inflation handle and oral inflation tube as backup — inflate the vest on your terms, any time.
  • Neoprene Comfort Collar™: Prevents chafing during extended wear.
  • Status Indicator Window: A quick visual check — green means the inflator is armed and ready to go.
  • High-Visibility Bladder: Fluorescent yellow-green inflation cell with SOLAS reflective tape improves detectability in a water rescue.
  • Onboard Safety Gear: Includes a safety whistle, strobe light attachment, and a small zippered storage pocket for essentials.
  • Corrosion Protection: Inflation cylinder is fully contained inside the bladder, shielding it from the elements.
  • Exclusive West Marine Styling.

Important Usage Notes:
This PFD's Type V classification means the integrated sailing harness can pose an injury risk if not used properly — always read the owner's manual before use. It is not approved for use on personal watercraft, whitewater paddling, water skiing, knee boarding, or similar towed activities, and it does not meet carriage requirements for commercial vessels. Supplied with a full owner's manual and safety booklet to help you get the most out of your gear.
