Built for years and years of fun, Pelican's Sprint 80x Sit-Inside Kayak is a quick, simple option for beginning paddlers. At only 7'9" long and 25 pounds, you'll be able to easily toss this kayak on the roof rack of your economy car or in a pickup truck bed to get back and forth to the water. Carrying it across the beach to launch is also a breeze. And since it is under 8' long you can often store it vertically to save space. At this price, buying several to add to your fleet means the whole family can enjoy getting out on the water together.
The Sprint 80x was designed for sheltered waters, lakes and slow moving streams. The low center of gravity you'll experience paddling a sit-inside kayak makes it easier to paddle, plus you are more protected from cold water if that's a consideration. Add an optional spray skirt (sold separately) for even more protection. And although it only weighs 25 pounds, this kayak is capable of carrying a generous 200 pounds.
Hull Design
Utilizing Twin Sheet Thermoforming (TST) technology, the Sprint 80x features RAM-X™, a multi-layer material exclusive to Pelican, known for its high impact-resistance, its ability to regain its initial shape after violent impacts and a UV-protected exterior finish. Its shallow v-chine hull is maneuverable and tracks and turns well. It also improves secondary stability allowing for more surface area touching the water when it is turned on its side. This will keep your kayak from rolling over as easily and the extra stability will help novice paddlers gain more confidence.
Comfort
An adjustable padded backrest adds comfortable support you'll appreciate on longer trips.
Deck
You'll find a handy lay-down bottle holder is built into the molded seat bottom for convenience. The carrying handles found at the bow and stern make portaging easy as well as providing tiedown points for your roof rack, rafting together or docking.
If you don't already own them or it's time to replace the ones you have, remember to order a kayak paddle and a life jacket (both sold separately) so you'll be ready to splash your kayak as soon as possible!
