Pelican's Unison 136T Tandem Sit-Inside Kayak will take you and your partner, significant other, date, crush, friend, sibling, parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, cousin, coworker, sidekick, child, dog or cat (okay that might be a stretch) comfortably wherever your sense of adventure leads you. A tandem allows two people of different strengths and abilities to paddle as one and benefit from the increased speed of two paddlers. Plus, if storage space is an issue, one tandem kayak takes up less space (and typically costs less) than two solo kayaks.
Stable and maneuverable, the Unison 136T was designed for beginning and intermediate paddlers using extensive computer modeling to reduce drag and improve cruising speed in sheltered waters, lakes and slow moving streams. The low center of gravity you'll experience paddling a sit-inside kayak makes it easier to paddle, plus you are more protected from cold water if that's a consideration. Add an optional spray skirt (sold separately) for even more protection.
Hull Design
Utilizing Twin Sheet Thermoforming (TST) technology, the Unison 136T features RAM-X™ Premium, a multi-layer polyethylene with an advanced resin in the top layer that imparts a glossy finish and significantly more rigidity and durability than standard single-layer polyethylene hulls. Its multi-chine flat bottom hull with keel extension provides great tracking and maneuverability, maximum stability and a whopping 500-pound capacity. The flat bottom also makes for more stable loading on the ground before you launch it.
Comfort
A roomy cockpit makes it easy to enter and exit. The adjustable foot peg system featuring 18 peg positions for 14" of adjustment will allow you to find the perfect fit. The Ergoband seating system includes adjustable padded back supports and padded bottoms. There's a cockpit table midship with built-in bottle holder and a 5" day hatch with bag to hold small items like your keys securely. A built-in bottle holder and smaller cockpit table are also provided in the forward position.
Deck
You'll find an elastic bungee cord in the bow to hold down items like jackets and other essentials within easy reach. In the stern there's a Quick Lock water-resistant hatch with an included 60 liter storage bag. The bow and stern handles not only help with carrying, they also provide handy tie-off points for docking or hooking up with other kayaks or boats. Paddle tiedowns are also included for holding your paddles when you need your hands free so you won't find yourself up a creek without (well you know).
