Mercury Marine HEI Distributor Kit - MerCruiser Small Block V8
The Mercury Marine 8M0183360 High Energy Ignition (HEI) Distributor Kit is a genuine OEM solution developed to replace the legacy Thunderbolt V MerCruiser ignition control module (ICM), which is no longer available for service. This kit fulfills all functionality requirements of the original ICM for Carbureted MerCruiser Thunderbolt V and Thunderbolt IV ignition systems.
The kit includes a complete new distributor assembly (HEI type), a new GM-style coil assembly, spark plug wires, an ignition coil bracket, and all wiring necessary to integrate the new components into the existing engine harness. Technical documentation is available to guide technicians through the required harness modifications to ensure correct and robust connections to the new components.
Installation requires significant modification to the engine harness and is not recommended as a do-it-yourself project. Professional installation by a qualified marine technician is strongly advised.
