Running Rigging

The difference between finishing first and bring up the back-of-the-pack depends on many variables. But one thing is for sure: the right running rigging can convert more energy from the wind into boat speed. Today's high tech cordage offers little to no stretch which translates into power to your rig. West Marine Rigging Services specializes in high tech splicing and can produce the right solution for your dinghy as well as your Grand Prix racer.

PBO Standing Rigging

We are excited to be the first to offer PBO standing rigging that is fully compatible with your boat’s existing hardware. POWERLITE PBO provides high performance at a cost comparable to rod. Continuously wound PBO and Kevlar assemblies for stays and runners are now available in almost any size. Vectran with a Polyethylene coating (VPE) is a great alternative for backstays and runners. The result is an extremely low-stretch rig that is much lighter in weight, and which can be coiled for trailering or shipping when needed.

Stainless Standing Rigging

We can also provide rod or 1x19 standing rigging to your specifications. Specify either >302/304 stainless wire, or 316 stainless wire for greater corrosion resistance, or Dyform wire for the smallest, smoothest cross-section.

Dock lines

We offer custom dock lines to match your needs in all diameters and length combinations to insure that your boat will stay secure at the dock. If you anchor in a particularly rough harbor, we can put an eye-splice around a thimble to eliminate chafe at the dock cleat or ring. Need chafe gear where the line passed through a chock? We will install it. Owners of large boats may want to have us make up Mega Braid or Mega Braid II custom dock lines, which are hockle-free and coil easily. We can also create custom towing bridles and tie downs for water toys and other auxiliary equipment.

Anchoring

Need to stay put? Can't find the diameter, length, color or style of anchor line you need? West Marine Rigging Services can create a custom anchoring solution for your boat including rope-to-chain spliced rodes for windlasses. Select from double-braid, single-braid, 8-plait, or three-strand nylon line and Proof-Coil, High-Test, or Grade 70 chain. We're also experts in mooring pendants for either seasonal or transient use, and anchor snubbers for cruisers who use all-chain rode. Our riggers can produce the right product for your voyaging.

Lifelines

Vinyl-coated or bare wire, we take great care in producing a product that will hold up under the harshest conditions. If weight is a concern we offer life lines made of Dyneema single braid line. Whether starting from scratch or replacing the old, we offering cost effective solutions for yourlifelineneeds.

Looking for something different? Need to have a railing on your deck but don't want to obstruct your view. West Marine Rigging can produce a railing system that will last for years and be ecstatically pleasing while offering unobstructed views from your deck or patio. We can create rigging to display art work and signs or reinforce the architecture of your home or office.
