Cukote Antifouling Paint
Complete Your Purchase
High in copper and featuring a hard ablative formula, Cukote is a suitable choice for both recreational and commercial boats.
As its name implies, Cukote is heavily loaded with copper, which makes this bottom paint a top performer, even in the most severe fouling conditions. As a copolymer ablative paint, Cukote offers several advantages over hard, modified epoxy-based paints. First, it self-polishes as the boat is used, eliminating the build-up of paint over time and reducing the need for sanding when it's time to reapply. Second, as Cukote self-polishes, fresh biocide is constantly released, and the hull remains smooth and clean. Third, hulls painted with Cukote can be hauled and kept out of the water without losing antifouling effectiveness, allowing you to paint in the fall and launch in the spring.
As a hard ablative paint formulated to wear slowly away, Cukote is a good choice for fast-moving recreational and commercial boats. Cukote is a great choice for all waters, including those with heavy fouling and tropical waters. Cukote may be applied to fiberglass, wood, and steel boats below the waterline with haulout intervals of less than three years. Do not apply to aluminum hulls. Offered in Dark Blue, Green, Teal, Red, Light Blue, Black, and White. Not for sale in States where prohibited by law.

Get the right amount of paint:
Note: The following recommendations are for two coats of paint. All values are approximate
| Boat Type | Bottom Paint |
|---|---|
| 10' Dinghy | 1 qt. |
| 14' Outboard | 1-2 qt. |
| 18' Runabout | 2 qt. |
| 20' Sailboat | 3 qt. |
| 24' Runabout | 3-4 qt. |
| 30' Sailboat | 1.5 gal. |
| 32' Cruiser | 1.5-2 gal. |
| 36' Auxiliary | 2 gal. |
| 40' Cruiser | 2.5 gal. |
| 45' Sailboat | 3-3.5 gal |
| 50' Sportfisher | 4+ gal. |
Another way to determine bottom paint quantity is to estimate the approximate surface area of the hull below the waterline, using the following formula:
Length x Beam x .75 = Approximate underwater surface area in square feet.
Each paint has a “theoretical coverage” area, but most paints require at least two coats, so you can expect actual coverage to be no greater than half of the theoretical value.
