Tables
Select a boat table the works for you.
When shopping for a new boat table, whether it is for the deck, cockpit or cabin, we suggest you look for something sturdy, durable, stylish and that will work for the way you like to recreate on the water. Here are some factors to consider:
Size
Of course, you want a boat table of the correct size for the available space. If you are replacing an old table, try to stick to a similar tabletop size, unless it didn’t work for the space. If you are installing a new table that will be used along with preexisting seating, allow for three or four inches of table to extend over the seats. This will ensure that guests can sit comfortably and not be cramped.
Fixed, adjustable, stowable?
When selecting a table package or replacement part, consider whether you want an adjustable or fixed height table. A fixed height pedestal table usually costs less, but it does not offer the versatility of an adjustable model. For example, a marine table mounted on adjustable posts allows for sitting, standing or even converting a dining space into a berth for sleeping. Quick-release and stowable table stands (or posts) bring the most flexibility to limited quarters.
Table Components
New tables can be purchased as a package that includes the table base, table pedestal, table mount and the table itself. Or, you can purchase those items separately to get the exact setup you prefer. As previously discussed, table posts can be fixed or adjustable. If you want an adjustable pedestal, check out Springfield’s air powered table pedestals which can be adjusted to three different heights. Other brands of marine tables and related hardware available at West Marine include Garelick, Todd, Magma and Taco Marine.
Boat Table Tops
West Marine offers square, round and oval marine table tops made of durable polyethylene material. When selecting a new table, consider how it will be used. Will your boat’s table mainly be used as a place to park liquid refreshments, or is it where you and your first mate will eat dinner and play cards while anchored in calm waters?
