Do-it-yourselfers select teak lumber from West Marine

Once you’ve spotted a beautiful boat gleaming with well-cared for teak, you know what a prize this is to boaters. By sourcing high quality and responsibly harvested teak wood from Indonesia and Thailand, we’re able to provide you with the best teak lumber to bring your vision to life.

Teak lumber, molding and trim can be used to complete a wide variety of projects. Whether you want to repair a fiddle on a chart table, replace a teak cabin sole, replace teak deck boards, build a companionway hatch—and for a multitude of other projects, West Marine has the teak you need to get the job done.

Types of teak boards and trim available

Choose from specialty trim pieces including quarter-round, table molding, L-molding, bulkhead molding and more. These sections can be ordered in five-foot sections, giving you flexibility for replacing a little or building something new.

Dimensional teak lumber is available in a variety of lengths, widths and thicknesses. If you are measuring for replacement, be sure to overbuy by at least 20% of the length needed to account for cuts and scraps.

Highest quality teak

The teak sold by West Marine has been carefully air and kiln dried, which ensures uniformity of color throughout. It is also harvested from sustainably managed forests. All teak is straight grain, which resists warping, rotting and cracking. It also does not shrink over time, making it a great choice for exterior applications that must withstand the elements.

Indonesian teak wood sits on the Janka Scale of Hardness at 980 pounds of force. This scale measures the force required to dent or embed something in the wood. You’ll appreciate this when you drop a heavy tool on your deck and don’t need to repair it.

Caring for teak

Once you have completed your teak project, you can if desired, protect your work with a teak oil or varnish. To learn about wood finishes and varnishes, check out our West Advisor articles, Wood Finishes and Top Tips on Varnishing.
