Profish 400 Sit-On-Top Angler Kayak

With a load capacity of 385 pounds (including you) and lots of well thought-out mounting options built right in, you'll discover the Profish 400 Angler Kayak is easy to gear-up with every conceivable fishing tool and accessory known to man (and purchased with full disclosure to all significant others, of course). Sure you can use the Profish 400 for adventure cruising loaded down with camping gear, but that seems like a waste of a perfectly good opportunity for possibly landing a world record fish. If you must, at least you'll take satisfaction in knowing your kayak is adept at transporting you and a copious amount of your stuff comfortably from put in to take out. (You can always find room for a fishing rod just in case you get the chance to wet a line.)

If you're new to fishing from a kayak, why choose a sit-on-top over a sit-inside kayak? Options! It's easier to add accessories. And if you're like most kayak fishermen, outfitting your boat is half the fun! You'll have a better view of the water (and potential obstacles) around you and it's also easier to get out and back in if you feel the need to wade. Some fishermen even like the ability to hang a leg over the side when dealing with a large fish. Since you'll be more open to the elements, expect to get wet. If the water's warm, wear clothing that dries quickly and protects you from the sun's damaging rays. If the water or air is cold, you'll want to wear gear that also provides extra warmth. Neoprene shoes or boots (sold separately) feel really good after a day out in the elements instead of cold, wet feet.

Hull Design

The hull of the Profish 400 is made from roto-molded, virgin linear medium-density polyethylene for a lightweight kayak that is strong and stiff to endure years of rough handling. The material also incorporates UV inhibitors and is colorfast so it will look good for years as well. In fact, Viking Kayaks have a thirty-year hull warranty for the original owner with product registration! The shape of the hull has been designed with flat chines to be stable and efficient to paddle in virtually all conditions.

Comfort

The Profish 400 features an ergonomically-designed cockpit for greater comfort for paddlers of all sizes. The sides have been scalloped at the thighs to allow for optimum paddling efficiency and stability whether you're new to kayaking or already an expert targeting trophy fish in big water. An adjustable foot brace system gives you the option to not only adjust for your leg length, but to change your leg positions for optimal paddling and then shift positions or stretch out during the day as needed. Self-bailing scupper holes are found in several places so water that finds its way over the deck will automatically drain out so you won't be sitting in a puddle of water all day.

Seating

In addition to a molded-in seat, the Profish 400 comes complete with a Sting Ray Seat featuring a supportive, padded high back and a padded seat. Straps adjust the seat to provide all-day support while paddling and fighting fish.

Deck

The deck is where the Profish 400 makes adding all the fishing gear and accessories you can imagine possible:

Starting at the bow, you'll find the first of five comfortable carry handles (two more on the sides and two at the stern).

You'll notice the Profish 400 has lots of padeyes and threaded brass inserts that have been added all over the deck to make installing accessories easy.

Bungee cord rigging up front makes a good place for securing items on top of the deck like a dry bag (sold separately) or jacket.

Next is a 6" waterproof bow hatch that also provides access inside the hull for storage.

Threaded brass inserts are found at the front of the cockpit that accept Railblaza StarPort Mounts (sold separately) so you can add platforms, drink holders, rod holders, a fillet table and many other accessories.

A center storage well that features a cover with an integrated bait cutting board that locks in place with four bungee cords is a great place to store tackle and other essentials within easy reach and makes a handy place to mount a fishfinder. Also available is an easily detachable Tackle Pod (sold separately) that fits perfectly inside the storage well for a drop-and-go system for your fishfinder. Cables run into the back of the Tackle Pod so your battery and fishfinder are housed together. Your tackle and refreshments can be stored inside it as well.

Right in front of the seat is a 6" waterproof cockpit hatch that has a convenient bucket fitted inside to keep personal items safely stowed.

Four flush-mount rod holders are fitted on the sides and just behind the seat for flexible positioning of your rods, landing net, gaff and other tools.

A paddle park system lets you securely stow your paddle to free your hands for casting, fighting and landing fish.

A deep rear well is located behind the seat and makes a handy place to keep your fisherman's crate, cooler or tackle bag (all sold separately). Viking Kayaks has also designed an insulated Fish Bag and an insulated Chill Pod (both sold separately) that fit seamlessly in the rear well to give you two choices for keeping your catch fresh while you're on the water.

The Profish 400 is ready to accept a rudder kit (sold separately) with threaded brass inserts and hoses to run the rudder line to the cockpit built in.

A factory-installed StarPort Base and Spacer at the stern makes it simple to add additional Railblaza accessories like flags, eyes, hooks, lights, camera booms and more (all sold separately).

Underneath the hull, a special recessed area with scupper is provided for your transducer mounting kit and transducer sold separately).
