The fuel filter cup part number 6P2-24521-00-00 encloses the filter element on Yamaha outboard engines and collects water and debris separated from the fuel. During normal operation, the primary 10?micron filter removes water and large contaminants from the fuel supply. The cup holds the disposable element and allows you to inspect for water accumulation; if water is present, drain the cup and replace the filter. A damaged or missing cup can cause leaks or allow unfiltered fuel to bypass the element. Replace the cup whenever it is cracked or worn to maintain proper fuel system function.
