Boat Surveillance & Security
Boat security systems provide peace of mind.
A few years ago, if you were planning to go on a trip and leave your boat in a marina, your boat’s security boiled down to asking the harbor master or perhaps a fellow boater to keep an eye on it.
How things have changed! Now, with a smart phone and a surveillance system like Garmin’s OnDeck™ Boat Monitoring System or the Siren 3 Pro™ System from Siren Marine®, it is possible to monitor your boat’s location and receive alerts for unauthorized entry from anywhere in the world. Available functions also include monitoring bilge water level, boat temperature, battery status, tank levels and more.
How do boat surveillance systems work?
Boat surveillance systems like those by Garmin and Siren Marine rely upon remote sensors connected to a base unit that sends status alerts to your phone over your cellular network. Base units or hubs include a set of sensors with system expansion made possible with additional optional sensors. Wired and hard-wired sensors are available. Apart from remote monitoring, systems can be configured to remotely turn on cabin lights, air conditioning, ice makers and more, from afar via relay switches.
Is a subscription required?
Yes, the security systems by Garmin and Siren Marine both require a subscription. Garmin offers a choice of an annual or monthly plan. Siren Marine offers annual, monthly and seasonal service plans.
