The Dometic BayStar HP4601 is an OEM end gland seal kit engineered to restore the performance and reliability of BayStar front mount outboard hydraulic steering cylinders. Designed specifically for cylinders using ORB (O-Ring Boss) -3 hydraulic fittings, this comprehensive service kit supplies every component needed for a complete end gland rebuild, eliminating fluid leaks and maintaining precise, responsive steering control. For NPT-threaded cylinder variants (models ending in "H"), use HP4600 instead.

Compatible cylinder models include HC4645-3, HC4647-3, HC4648-3, and HC4658-3. The system is rated to a maximum of 150 HP total and must be used exclusively with SeaStar Steering Fluid — never brake fluid or ATF. When servicing in salt water environments, the optional cylinder ground strap kit (HA5477) is recommended. All old screws must be discarded; the HP4601 includes new stainless steel socket head cap screws for secure reassembly. The internal center seal is not included in this kit.

Installation follows a straightforward procedure using common hand tools and the included seal guide: steer to hard-over toward the gland being serviced to minimize fluid loss, remove and mark steering lines, loosen socket cap screws, slide off the old gland, install the new gland using the seal guide, install new screws, reassemble rod hardware, then bleed the steering system per standard BayStar instructions. Use good-quality marine grease during reassembly.
