Polypropylene Honeycomb Core Panel: Lightweight Strength Without the Extra Weight
Our Polypropylene Honeycomb Core Panel is a lightweight, high-strength core designed to add stiffness and structural support to composite panels without adding unnecessary weight. Whether you're building for the marine, RV, industrial, transportation, or architectural market, this honeycomb core is an excellent choice for projects where strength, durability, and weight savings matter. The unique honeycomb structure provides an impressive strength-to-weight ratio, making it an ideal core material for sandwich panel construction. It helps create strong, rigid composite structures while keeping the finished product lightweight and easy to handle. Its polypropylene construction also provides excellent resistance to moisture, chemicals, corrosion, fungi, and rot, making it well suited for demanding environments.
Available in thicknesses from 7mm (1/4") to 38mm (1-1/2"), in 4 lb and 5 lb densities, and in Plain or Scrimmed and Scored configurations.
Why Choose Scrimmed and Scored?
Scrimmed for Superior Bonding: A non-woven polyester scrim is bonded to one or both sides of the honeycomb core, creating an excellent bonding surface for fiberglass, carbon fiber, and other composite skins. The scrim helps ensure consistent adhesion with epoxy, polyester, and vinyl ester resins, providing a strong, reliable laminate.
Scored for Easy Shaping: The pre-scored 1" x 1" grid pattern allows the panel to flex and conform to curves, contours, molds, and complex shapes with ease. It's especially useful when building parts where a flat core won't follow the shape you need. The scored design also helps resin flow into the core during lamination, improving contact between the core and skins and helping minimize unwanted voids.
