Harken 40mm Protexitâ„¢ Double Exit Block
The Harken 40mm Protexit™ Double Exit Block is the definitive solution for competitive sailors who demand durability and performance from their halyard exit hardware. Traditional exit blocks suffer from progressive wear caused by side-angle loading — a problem that Protexit™ technology eliminates entirely. The block's all-aluminum, wear-resistant housing carefully ushers line in and out regardless of the angle of loading, preserving both the block and the running rigging over the course of an entire racing season.
At the heart of the design, aluminum sheaves rotate on precision sleeve bearings complemented by Delrin® sideload balls. This combination ensures the sheaves do not deform even under the most extreme loads, while simultaneously reducing wear on the halyard itself. The result is a block that is strong, durable, and gentle on rope — protecting the race results that sailors work so hard to achieve.
With a maximum working load of 400 kg (880 lb) and a breaking load of 800 kg (1764 lb), the 1208 offers higher working loads than any small boat exit block previously produced by Harken. At just 122 g (4.3 oz) and 144 mm (5 5/8 in) in length, it adds minimal weight to the deck layout. Fastener spacing of 120 mm and standard 6 mm flathead fasteners make installation straightforward on a wide range of deck configurations. The block accepts lines up to 8 mm (5/16 in) in diameter, covering the majority of small boat halyard applications.
