The Harken Unit 3 Head Swivel is the rotating component at the head (top) of the Reflex furling system, designed to work seamlessly with the patented Reflex technology for free-flying downwind and reaching sails. This head swivel reacts instantly when the drive unit transfers torque through the torsion cable, spinning the sail smoothly and completely from top to bottom for an even roll-up and exceptionally tight wrap. The result is greater control and confidence in furling operations, especially when sailing shorthanded.

Rated at 4.5T MWL, the Unit 3 Head Swivel is suitable for boats up to 17.4 m (58') and is optimized for asymmetric spinnakers, gennakers, and code zero sails with sail areas up to 223 m² (asymmetric) or 158 m² (code zero). The compact design minimizes weight aloft, which is critical for maintaining boat balance and performance, while maximizing the available luff length for sails.

A key innovation of this swivel is its quick-release modular T-fitting, which allows sailors to disconnect a furled sail with a single spring-loaded pin and quickly install a different furled sail into the same T-slot. This modularity enables a single drive unit to handle multiple sails without reconfiguration, streamlining operations and reducing complexity on deck.
