The LALIZAS Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU) is a reliable, internationally certified automatic deployment mechanism designed to ensure liferaft accessibility in the event of a vessel sinking. Developed and manufactured in the EU (Greece), it reflects decades of expertise in liferaft manufacturing and is fully compliant with SOLAS, MED, and USCG regulations.
When a vessel sinks, the HRU activates automatically at a depth of between 1.5 and 4 meters. This triggers the inflation of the liferaft and releases it from the sinking vessel, allowing it to float free and be available for survivors. The mechanism can be installed on all liferafts with capacities ranging from 4 to 150 persons, making it suitable for a wide range of commercial and recreational marine applications.
Installation is straightforward — the HRU is attached to the liferaft mounting bracket on deck according to the provided instructions. No ongoing maintenance is required during service life, simplifying compliance management. However, the unit must be replaced two years after installation on board or four years after the date of manufacture, whichever comes first, ensuring continued reliability and regulatory compliance.
The LALIZAS HRU has been independently tested and approved by Force Certification A/S, confirming its performance to the highest international maritime safety standards. Comprehensive documentation including installation instructions, mounting instructions, a product data sheet, and a product brochure are available to support installation and compliance recordkeeping.
