Ronstan D-Splicer Fid Kit
The D-Splicer is a specialized rope splicing needle system designed for sailors and riggers working with modern synthetic fibers and rope constructions. It addresses the limitations of conventional fids and splicing needles, particularly for small line sizes where traditional tools prove inadequate. The system features a unique pull-through operation with a double needle design that clamps the line, making it significantly easier to pull through the rope.
This kit is purpose-built for modern synthetic fibers and includes a machined alloy handle with an anchoring loop and four interchangeable needles in two different sizes. Two needles measure 1 mm diameter with 24 cm length, while the other two measure 1.5 mm diameter with 26 cm length. All needles are crafted from highly polished stainless steel to resist corrosion in marine environments. The handle itself is constructed from anodized aluminum for durability and reduced weight.
Key Features
- Interchangeable needles in two sizes for versatility
- Highly polished stainless steel needles resist corrosion
- Anodized aluminum machined handle with anchoring loop
- Pull-through design with unique double needle that clamps the line
- Storage tube included for organization and portability
- Ideal for making soft shackles and tapered sheets
