How to Winterize Water Systems
Drain the entire water system as thoroughly as possible, opening all hot and cold faucets and other outlets, then use air pressure to blow out remaining water. Drain the hot water tank and leave the petcock open, then bypass the tank by disconnecting the inlet and outlet lines and connecting them together. Attach the water pump inlet line to the antifreeze container, start the pump, and open each faucet one at a time until colored antifreeze flows from the outlet, then close it. Repeat for each low-point drain, and add antifreeze to toilets and other drains as needed.
